New Native organic baby slings are not adjustable, so they are sized to fit the parent or adult who will be carrying the child in the organic sling. Most parents need to be fitted for his or her own organic sling (i.e., if your husband is 6' 4" and you are 5' 7", it would be best for each parent who will be carrying the child to have their own organic baby sling.) Our sling is 100% cotton and are not pre shrunk. Please wash for true size.
It is helpful if you can take one measurement of each parent's chest. Place the measuring tape above the bust, under the armpits and all the way around the torso. (This is not your bra size, although pre-pregnancy bra size is a useful factor when determining sizing)

In addition to this measurement several factors are taken into consideration when determining size of the organic sling, especially for those of you measuring on the border between sizes. Please consider the following:
* Where are you in your pregnancy or how old is your baby? If you are in the last few weeks of your pregnancy or have a newborn you may need to drop an inch or so off of your above the bust chest measurement to compensate for expected weight loss.
* Your height. This affects how long the carrier will be on your torso. Depending on torso length Very tall people can wear more than one size of the organic sling. Very short people may need to go smaller with the organic baby sling.
* Your pre-pregnancy weight. This affects how you will bring the organic sling up on your torso by filling out the organic sling width wise. Also, do you carry most of your body weight up top or on the lower part of your body?
* Do you have broad or narrow shoulders? If you have broad shoulders or a big bust or if you are dad with a big chest you might fill the organic sling up a little more width wise. People with narrow shoulders may want to lean toward a smaller size in the organic baby sling.
* Do you have a long or short torso? If you have a short torso you may need a smaller organic sling. If you have a long torso you may have more options.
* Fitted t-shirt size. Organic baby sling size generally corresponds to your normal pre-pregnancy fitted t-shirt size in combination with the other factors mentioned above.
Sling Fit:
Our aim in sizing is to determine which organic sling will fit most comfortably for the parent and most securely for the child. When sized correctly, the organic sling will fall within your center of gravity or about halfway between your belly button and where your leg bends at your hip. A correctly sized baby sling will feel comfortable and secure.
Carrying in your center of gravity is the most comfortable place for your body to carry weight for long periods of time. Your center of gravity is where the body naturally distributes the weight of the baby during pregnancy.
To check for the correct size you need to try on the organic sling with the weight of your baby in it. If you are pregnant or adopting you can try a bag of flour for weight. During pregnancy try the organic sling with the bottom seam at your hip rather than over your belly and see where the lowest point of the organic sling hangs in relation to your belly button and the bend where your leg meets your hip.
For a comfortable fit, the lowest point, which is generally the baby’s bottom within the organic sling, should not hang below the bend where your leg and hip meet. If it is too long you may bump the baby when you are walking, and put some strain on your back. The organic sling may be too small if the bottom of it hangs above your belly button.
*If you are short in your upper body, the organic sling may need to fall lower than the bend, where your leg and hip meet. The sling will open approximately 5-7 inches when it is the correct size.
If you have the correct size and are wearing the organic sling correctly, you should get a sense that your baby feels safe and secure inside the pouch and that it is comfortable on you.
